I installed an aftermarket stereo and a universal antena adapter. Now my radio reception is bad. The stock unit worked great. Any ideas ? .I have an '00 coupe
There is a drk green wire in the harness behind the radio, this is the signal wire for the antenna amp. Applying 12V to this enables the amp. The wire is on connector C1 Pin 8. Connectors C1 and C2 are joined together.
Pin 6 on C1 is the 5V signal that switches to the front antenna.
I would recommend only to apply the 12V to Pin 8 of C1.
you need to read that thread and apply the 5 volts to that other wire as well for the best reception
I am running with only 12V applied to the Green wire. In my area (Orange County CA) that gives me the best reception. I tried it with the 5V applied and had better but drifting FM and still no AM. With just the 12V applied FM does not drift. If you apply 5V to the Pink wire AM reception will non existent.
