I'm planning on installing an after market head unit in my C6, Non Bose,no NAV and no onstar. From the posts I've read, I will need to use an interface to connect the new head unit to the stock wiring harness. For my setup, the peripheral GMCO is what I believe I need. Would the Metra GMRC-01 also work? Secondly, if the new head unit has an output of for example 50 W /channel, do I simply connect the speaker outputs from the new head unit to the GMCO or GMRC-01. The reason I ask is that I didn't think you can connect an amplified source from a head unit and input it into an amplifer. Lastly, I'm on the fence as to what head unit to buy. My main ojective is to get aux input capability so I can play my Ipod. I want it to sound decent but i'm far from being an audiophile. l like the look of a touch screen but really don't see the need for navigation or the ability to play DVDs in the car. Is there a decent quality touch screen w/o nav that would work for me? I want to spend around $350. If not then I'm probably going with a kenwood DPX-502.

Again, thanks to all for your help.
The GMCO will definitley work, but that Metra doesn't sound right. There's a list of the adapters in the C6 Audio FAQ, the thread is linked in my sig and stickied at the top of this section.
Ignore the info in the GMCO install instructions and install as if your car were Bose. Unless most other non-Bose cars, the C6 base system has an outboard amplifier. So plug the RCA outputs of whatever head you choose into the GMCO's RCA inputs.
I'd spend the cash on a double-din unit, they really look much better in the dash than any single din. If you install a single you wind up with a pocket - aka a big empty space. If you're talking strictly price, this is about the cheapest I've seen:

I have no idea what kind of performer it is, other than to say you do get what you pay for.
I'd save your money for one of the entry level Kenwood, Pioneer, or eclipse double din headunits. You may not be and audiophile but a crappy head unit is going to put out a crappy signal and you'll notice.
