OK, I,ve been researching for hours and hours and all the info is great but has only made me more indecisive.I want to add an aftermarket HU and sub but keep the factory Bose speakers in my 03 Z06. I can't decide between single or double din. I want to play movies in the car for my son and so far I'm looking at the JVC AVX 800(double din) which I found for $650 including an iPod adapter. Seems like a good deal but I can't find any reviews for it. The other HU I'm considering is the JVC KD-NX5000 for around the same price. Will a double din touch screen fit without modifying the bezel. i like the NX 5000 but want a bigger screen. Nav is not something that I have to have, but would be a nice plus. Definately need ipod and bluetooth though. Not worried about the sub and amp yet, I will focus on that later, but open to ideas. As far as budget, I have one but if something is worth it, I'll spend a bit more, just depends on if it's worth it. Thanks in advance for the advice, Rain
First, I HIGHLY reccoend upgrading the existing speakers...at least the midrange 3.5" in the doors to aftermarket coaxials. They will make a world of difference especially in the higher frequencies.
Any double DIN head unit will require extensive bezel modifications. There are several fold out Single DIN units. I like the alpine IVA series myself. The IVA D300 or D310 should suit your needs for video and a clean audio source for future expansion. You will need the Alpine KCA-420i for ipod and iphone integration.
Thanks, as soon as I posted I did another search and saw what the double din install entails. I'm doing the "system" in stages to spread out the cost, so first was to get a new HU with whatever adapter to work with factory speakers. Second will be a 12"sub with amp and later down the road I will get around to replacing the factory speakers. Anybody know if audio places include the neccesarry adapters for the HU with Bose speakers? Thanks again......
