I have a C5 and put in an aftermarket Alpine system. However I'm having problems with the audio cables that go to the sub. They come straight out the back of the new radio and they don't allow me to push my radio all the way in. There's like a plastic "wall" behing the radio and there's not much room. I've had to dissasembe the connectors (they unscrew into two pieces" and bend the cables downwards. However that is not the perfect setup because sometimes I will lose the signal going over a bump or something. How do you guys deal with it, do you cut into the back plastic to make more room or are there some kind of right angle connectors out there????
Thanks.
When I did my system, I noticed that the JL Audio cables had very short length connectors for the RCA plugs compared to the other cables I saw. They were a bit more than other brands but this was one of the advantages...
I have the Alpine iDA-X001 and had the same problem. (My Sony MEX-1HD did not.) I just used a razer knife and trimmed the plastic part of the RCA cable to reduce the size, allowing the RCA cable some flexibility. Worked like a champ.
Oh yea... that black plastic wall is your HVAC system. I have a spare in the shop if anyone wants to see what cutting into it would end up looking like.
Ive only cut it once but there was no way around it and customer said go for it. Was using an hu mount that pushed a deep radio back even further and the 90degree adapaters on the RCAs but it was still hitting.
