C6 dash speaker replace or unplug?

C6 dash speaker replace or unplug?
I've been dissappoint with the stereo quality from my 2006 3LT BOSE (non-nav) system. I've decided to change out the door speakers as a first step. Either BA's or Polks. But what about the center dash speaker? Have read posts were folks have replaced that and some where they have just unplugged it. Appreciate some opinion. If you unplug it, how? Can the wires just hang in there or do they need to be secured some how?
