Honestly with the vette charging system you dont need a cap. The big 3 should take care of 99% of issues. How big is your stereo system. Unless its in excess of 1000 watts rms I woudlnt worry about it at all.
If you're running a deep cycle battery, you need a cap if you want any decent kind of bass. Deep cycles are great for long storage and standby ime, but they're also slow to discharge large quantities of power for hard hits.
Caps mostly benifit subwoofer setups because they generally require the most power to move. This being said, it would depend on how much wattage you plan to run to your sub. Don't worrk about the speakers unless they're going to be fed >100Watts per channel?
If you decide you want one I have a Rockford 1.0 farad cap, used but excellent. 50.00 shipped. I am sure it would easier and cheaper than the alternatives. I have one too many.
The "Big 3" can be done for very little money. If it costs you $50 you have spent way too much money on bling.
