Default Install Pics

Got the install pics here: (there are three pages, use the combo box)

http://communities.msn.com/C4StereoInstall/shoebox.msnw

HU = Alpine 7878
Amp = Hifonics Zeus 700 4X50 + 1 X 200
Fronts = Boston Accustics Pro 6.5 Separates
Sub = Boston Accustics 10" rally series in a Bandpass enclosure
No rears as of yet.
In such a small interior, it sounds pretty good as is. I configured the amp as 2X100 + 1X200.

I first cut out styrofoam enclosures to test for fit. They didn't exactly translate 100% to hardboard. The grills are pushed out a little bit.

I think the sub enclosure is a bit much, looks like rice to me. I bought the speakers and amp used as a set. I may remove the speaker from the bandpass and install it in the storage bay behind the pass seat. Not sure what it will do to the sound though.

I ran the tweeter wires through the top piller trim screw hole and left the screw out of course. Used velcro to attach the tweeter enclosures. Not sure how long that will hold up, but I wanted to try and not damage the trim here.

Anyway there are a lot of pics.

Thanks for the pics. The front enclosures are similar to what I've been wanting to try. (if I every get the time) Only thing I noticed (and I'm by no means an expert), was the amp mounting. Since heat rises, I was informed that it was best to mount the amp with the heat sinks up and down rather than sideways. This way, when the seat was up against it, the heat had an exit route instead of being trapped there. As far as the sub enclosure, that's personal preference. I'm trying to do mine without a sub. I don't want to lose any valuable space.

That was the only way the amp was going to fit behind the seat. It was pretty big. It doesn't seem to get too warm.

Believe it or not I can still get the roof in the back with that big **** sub back there! I just think it looks cheesy for a guy my age :) But it sounds real nice.

They are 2 and 3/8ths deep. If you notice I had to cut a hole in the back of the enclosure to get them to fit. I don't have the exact measurements of the enclosure as I didn't write them down. I'll see if I can find the mis-cuts and give you a rough idea.

I can tell you the rail cover sticks out a little bit and does interfere just a little when I take my foot off the clutch.

Nice Job Jay. Now you got me feeling lazy. I've been trying to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee for winter. I guess I'll need to fix the front now. :rolleyes:
Congrats and enjoy. :cheers:

For the tweets, if you want to keep the location and nail them down, run really small gauge black wire from the tweeter and then around the back edge. Something like the wire that comes attached to the tweeter. This will work for the short distance until you get under the trim. Then splice in the bigger 14 gauge stuff. Then you can mount them in their surface mount pods screwing into the screw hole.

Thanks I might try that. I have the other mounts, but I thought the ones I used looked best, even though they were designed to mount as a coxial on the 6.5 woofer. I did keep the little wires but ran them thru the trim screw hole just to hide the wires. They are about 4 inches lonng and then connect to the larger wire.

OBTW: You may of saw this already, but there is a Grand Cherokee for sale in off topic http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=189623

Man, if I only had the cash. $20k is to much right now. I have to stay under $10. I found 2 so far. A red '98 with a V8 (the 5.2) every other option and way to many miles(130,000) in great condition for $10000, and a 95 with 94,000, same as above for $6500. Looks like the white one that other guy posted. But I was thinking, $20K gets me a 5.9 grand cherokee or an old 95 and a Ligenfelter 396 stroker installed. :eek: :yesnod: Might be a plan huh?
Really though, its just a snow beater until I get the next promotion and start driving C5s and new Denalis. For now, its beater cars and spagetti Sundays for me. Thanks for the sharp eyes.

You can always get an old Bronco or something for 3 to 5K, you'll hate it all winter, but think of what you can drive in the summer. :)

But seriously cars are a losey thing to spend cash on. I can afford a Z06 or a ZR1, but I bought a 92 with 73K on it. I'm still having fun and the difference will go to paying down on the house or the kid's college funds. Dept $sucks with a capitol S. Plus I don't sweat leaving it in a parking lot!

Yeah, I'm with ya on that. I was contemplating leasing a new one and said no, I'll just get a used one and beat the heck out of it. Never had a 4x4 before and it makes sense around here. And $7000 sure beats $33000 for a new one. I got the Vette the same way. Figured with a little extra cash and TLC I can make it my ZR-1 or Z06 but with a drop top. The one I have has very few problems and I've been keeping it up. Just added the '96 wipers and got the flares for the meats out back. Figure, a big motor, seat covers, brakes, exhaust, and I'm right there with the big guns for less than half. One of these day's I'll land that coordinator position and I'll have the company pay for the new Denali. Until then, I'm happy with a beat up Jeep. Its nice not having any payments.:yesnod:
Later,

:yesnod: You can say that. The last thing I wanted to do was go into dept over a toy. Loans are for houses and maybe education.

Showed my stereo to a kid I work with today. Up until recently he had a 2001 TA with that 500w Monsoon thing. He thought it was the bomb. After hearing my new setup, he got out of the car and said "I can't believe what I just heard" He was blown away. Then I told him I have no rear speakers :D :D
