Help If You've Replaced Bose System
I want to put new speakers in the doors and in the rear quarters. I also want to install an amp, and mabey tweeters in the dash pad.
If you've done this, please let me in on what you used as far as brand names and speaker/output sizes you used. As well as new speaker wire (how long, and what kind). I'm fairly ignorant about stereos, but I know what sounds good.... and bose doesn't.
6x9 for the rear.
Best sounding 6x9 I've heard = http://www.bostonacoustics.com/Produ...=4&SeriesID=26
Good seperate speakers to look at for the front:
Focal, MB Quart, Boston Acoustics, A/D/S.
All are great brands with tremendoust sound.
Perfect amp to power this= http://www.mmxpress.com/ads/ads_p450.htm
Other brands look for 75wx4.
Hope this helps

This is what I did and have.
Speakers:
In the dash I ran Blaupunkt 4”x6” PCxp462 35w rms (Not max rms). Cut out a hole in the speaker grill. New wiring was added (12 gauge)
The Doors have Blaupunkt 6.5” PCxp652 50w rms. Real fun taking these out. I emailed Tom and he explained on how to take these things out. And I reused the back part of the box, and created a new speaker holder to enclose the box and sealed the box. Used old wiring.
The rear Blaupunkt 6”X9” PCxp693 70w rms. Had to create a new plate. New wiring
Created a subwoofer box from my old 10” Pioneer subs 350w Max rms. It has .8 cu in fo room for both woofers.
Amps:
Using Blaupunkt (2) MPA400US and (2) MPA160US
400’s is running 4”x 6” 30w x 2 (Have an extra 100 watts being wasted) and the other 400 is running the 10" subwoofer 100w x 2 (Bridged)
160’s is running 6”x 9” 35w x 2 and 6.5” 35w x 2.
I placed 160 400 160 to the back of the car in this order. The other 400 is on the subwoofer.
Head unit I’m using is Pioneer DEH-P77DH – Using all the pre-outs (Front, Back, and Subwoofer) Nice tight fit. I don't think I can take off the face plate.
CD Changer 6 disk Pioneer P650. Placed this thing in the storage compartment on the passanger side.
My longest RCA cable run it 30’. Also used an AMP kit with 4-gauge wire. Also bought a 4-way splitter.
I was on a budget but still managed to spent about $1000. I don’t think that this system will win any contest. But it does sound good to me. Just have to fine-tune the amps.
I have to take some pictures and post them. I’m 90% done. Have to carpet the sub woofer and clean up the power wires.

Sounds cool. I think I'm going to use the Pioneer DEH-P4300 head unit, and Pioneer 6x9s in the back, and Pioneer Components 5.25 in the door and tweeters in dash. That will leave room for a good amp to add later.
I'd love to put in a sub, but I refuse to give up the room. Oh well, thanks for the replys.
