Default Question about mid-bass speakers

I am basically using a pair of 6.5 Earthquake EQ 6's in my vette right now. they play ~120hz down (they are not subwoofers but produce decent bass). they are located in the rear speaker locations. If I move them to the door, would they need to be aimed like a mid-range 5-1/4"? I would also see if I can install a 5-1/4" in the door as well for midrange. Other then the fact that this may not all fit.. what is the consensus on the aiming of the 6.5's??

Thanks

Bass frequencies below around 500 hz are omnidirectional, and the human ear cannot differentiate signal paths, especially in an enclosed space like a car. Don't worry about aiming them, but definitely do worry about sealing the rear chamber completely airtight from the front chamber and minimizing wall flex.

To many speakers. Not necessary. I would just install the 6.5 mids from 120-up to tweet range. (couple of thousand if I remember correctly). I would then put a sub in the back and go down to 20 with that and up to 120. They really aren't doing what they are designed for now. 6.5 can't get down low enough to hit real low bass. 5 1/4s and 4.5 are really just different versions of a 6.5. They just make all the different sizes to fit different holes. But for sound, they are basically designed to fill the same mid role. 8" and up really starts being sub range. If you can fit the 6.5, stick with those and skip the 5 1/4.

I have 2 -12" subs in an angled box in the back, 2-6" woofers in the doors, 2-4" mids in where the astro vent ***** would be in the dash(mounted behind the dash and just barely fit), and finaly 4 tweeters on the windshield pillers. 3 amps are shoe horned in also.
With sidepipes on my '68 427 I can make the music louder than the engine, even with the top down.
You can feel the air pumped between the seats from the 12s.
I mention this so anyone interested knows you can fit an amazing amount of stuff into it if you look around for the space.
In the future I'm installing a 2nd head unit and cd changer, but will be remote controlled. If I had it to do over again I would skip the dash unit altogether and leave the factory unit in as a sleeper. Put the head unit in between the seats or in the back.

I see what you are saying. I am actually going to use the 5-1/4 set I have..
Orion HCCA 5s for now in the front. I really don't want to waste what little space I have with subs in the back. I will either get a DVC 6.5" Bazooka tube and put another set of seperates in the back.. but have the gain down on the rears

Bazooka's a good option because you can strap them down with quick disconnects and remove them if needed. Pretty compact and economical. For the $ they're pretty good. I don't want to brag, but I can store a whole 6 pack of beer in the back of my vette, if I spread them around first.
That's why I'm shopping for a 2nd vehicle right now. I can't even pick up a bag of groceries with a passenger. But its worth it. With my front and rear seperates and my sub, I now have a use for my wireless remote that came with the deck. Since you can't stay in the car and turn it ALL the way up, even with the roof down and at 75+mph, I can use it to test the volume at a safe 20 feet.
