Default '88 C4 front speakers

Hi guys! I just got my first vette last summer and I'm planning on upgrading the HU and speakers.
Could someone please tell me how to open the grills/covers on the front speakers? Can I just pry them out carefully with a screw driver or do I have to take some of the dash apart to get to the speakers? Sorry if someone addressed this already in a different thread... Please direct me there if this was previously discussed.

Thank you! Cristina

take the dash pad off. they are bolted on from underneath.

you are best of forgetting about that location and just doing a 6.5 comp set in the doors.

Did you read the C4 sticky at the top of the section. Lots of good info written up by Andy Bogus (RIP). I wonder how many articles the mods on here have written? Not many, I'll bet.

Yes, I did. I've been reading on this forum for awhile, and finally registered yesterday. Thanks allot to everyone! I've been learning so much about my vette thanks to you. I sure want to learn more and fix some stuff by myself, but just don't want to break anything

Kale, I thought the front speakers may be a pain getting to, so I'll leave those alone and just replace the door and rear ones. Thanks for the tip.
I'll need to take apart I guess some of the dash sooner or later though to look at the AC/heater control buttons/display. The heat and AC are working just the lights are blinking wild. And I think I know what the problem is.

Thanks again, guys!
