Default Recommend JL stealth box etc

I just had a whole new stereo put into my 03 Z06...JL 10W3 subwoofer in a stealth box, 5 channel JL amp, and JL front components and rear speakers...along with an Alpine 9883 deck and hispeed iPod connection.

Highly recommend this setup, especially the steath box.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1522

UPDATE: I couldn't stand the 9883 and it's tiny one line screen any longer so I just put in a new one:

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=iDA-X001

I HIGHLY recommend this setup when installed by someone that knows what they're doing. The sound is amazing and the sub hits VERY hard if you so desire it to.

The reason is the box the sub comes in is very well engineered and thought out and also your car is shaped like a funnel or horn, so sound travels very nice in there.

Not only does it sound amazing, but if it's bass you want, that little 10" hits harder than the last TWO 10s I had in my Subaru. Probably has something to do with the confined space, etc.

I'll see if I can get a pic of where they mounted my amp...looks great.

Truth be told I forget the model numbers, I'd have to go root through the boxes in the closet. They are the middle of the line JL components in the front, and the 5.25 in the rear...about $200 pair.

Sounds awesome.....

I will be undertaking the same kind of project coming up very soon...
Going with the following:

Fronts: MB Quart QSD216 components (6.5")
Rears: MB Quart DKG113 (5.25")
Sub: JL Audio 10W6
Sub box: hangover box by NVTHIS (currently building for me)
Amps: JL Audio 300/4 & JL Audio 500/1
Headunit: Alpine CDA-9886 with the Ipod adapter and USB adaptor

Can't wait to get everything in.

Have you listened to the Quarts before in a vehicle? Just curious. I had them in my Subaru and they are too shrill for me. I preferred the JL I have now or the Boston Acoustics I had in my Mazda. Not a huge fan of the MBs.

Yeah, my buddy has almost the same setup, but with a 12W6 and a Kenwood Excelon headunit in his car.... they are amazing....

they better be, especially when the QSD216's originally cost $1300 for the set....

Well I have the 9883...truthfully I love the full iPod controls, but I liked the previous models better. I had the 9813 in my Subaru and thus far I like that model better. On that model I could see the track title, the number of the track, and the clock all at the same time. This one not so much. I'm actually tempted to try to track down a used 9813 and put it back in. But first I need to read the 9883 manual to see if there is something I'm missing. But sound wise, options, etc, Alpine makes a great deck. I made the mistake of trying out JVC top line deck once and it sucked.

JL fan here as well. I have ZR's in the front, XR's in the rear and the Stealthbox w/10W3 driven by a JL 450/4 and 300/2 with Eclipse HU. It is quite frankly the best system I have ever owned. Not very obtrusive (still looks stock) but sounds simply incredible
