1990 c4 stereo
to get the stock system working but I would rather not my question is can I stick an aftermarket headunit and aftermarket speakers in with out rewiring the car? can I just pull the head unit out and plug in an adapter with new hu, and essentially do the same with the speakers, ok here is where it gets embarrassing :o I know well nothing about stereos I know wiring kinda, and I’m not worried about setting up an amp or 10grand system just something better than I currently have which is well basically anything. Please help the local stereo shops are really expensive so if I can just plug in adapters and new hu and new speakers I would be thrilled ok I know its slightly more complicated than that but is that the basic jist of it? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Web sites, personal experience, examples, ECT Thanks again.

The speakers are about $75.00 each to fix, and the HU about $150.00 to $200.00. Or you could replace everything (thats what I did) for a little more. Check out Crutchfield.com for pricing, and there allways Ebay. I don't know how handy you are, but I did my car, looks great and sounds better.
Good luck
It is much better and easier to just run new wires. Don't forget that the Bose have an amp at each speaker, I believe there were like five wires running to each speaker, plus this way you can use a better grade of wire, believe me, it is better to do everything new. Just read the sticky at the top of the page, figure out what you need to do for your year car, and go for it.
If you need any more info, just let me know.
I have the a similar problem. The radio ejects the CD and the three speakers don´t work.
I want to buy a new aftermarket headunit and aftermarket speakers, but I would like to make as less changes as possible to the original wiring of my car (91 vette)
Good luck, let me know if you have questions.
