Corvette Challenger Speakers
Anyway, trying to get that sorted out.. I think everything will likely be here some time next week.
I installed them in the Kick Panels. I had already carpeted my new kicks, so I laid out the speakers where I thought they would fit best on the kicks and then drilled a 1/4" hole in them so I could place the kicks on my scroll saw to cut out the holes for the speakers. I used a wax pencil RED on the black carpet to draw my template lines. Would suggest white next time around as it is probably easier to see on black than the red.
Anyway, I got them cut out and installed and tested. They look great.

Where should I go from here?
Also, can I get away with purchasing a decent AMP/Woofer locally at a audio store? I don't mind ordering the other stuff on line as well, I am just getting kinda anxious and have some time off coming up..
Thanks again!!!

the kit i bought said it was 8 or 10 gauge power/ground wire, i dont remember. with the sheathing it was the size they said it was, but once it was stripped down to the wire its self it was more like 14g.
the only thing i kept from the kit was the fuse holder.
*was an 8 gauge kit

You did a great job installing the speakers in the kick panels but one seems higher than the other. Is that just me? Have you test fit them in the car?
As for wiring, the crap kits are bad because of the RCAs. Cheap RCAs don't have any insulation and pick up interference really badly. It's best to spend the money for a good one. I seem to remember linking one to you from KnuKonceptz but if not I will send the link to you. Cheap, great quality, and they come with everything you need, including good RCAs that have an integrated remote wire spun into the wire sheathing.
You can run the power and ground how you like. For Curt's car I drilled holes and ran the cabled out the back, and then back in through the storage bin, and right to the batter. I mounted his fuse holder in the storage bin for easy access, but no wires are visible from inside the car, and you have to be on your back under the car to see where the cables exit and enter the car.
As for subs and amp, you CAN buy locally, but you have a few obstacles. Stereo shops mark up horribly for their quality gear, which is still mostly heavily marketed crap, and then you have places like Wal-Mart that don't sell quality, they sell what they can get super cheap and don't care that it sounds like poop.
I would suggest ordering what you had planned and just be patient. Spend the time running the wiring and prepping for the arrival.
Good observation.. It is one part bubba, and two parts the driver side just seems to fit differently when I laid it out, and the pictures are a little deceiving. With them in place, they actually look pretty similar.
Since they are not going side by side in the car, I think only you and I will ever know.

Here's the link for a great amp install kit.

SOUNDS GREAT!!! Have to build the box now for the woofer! My neighbors are probably going nut right now.
That's awesome. I can't wait to see pics of it all buttoned up and installed. Good work.
