Sub Box for C5 coupe

For the record USAA (bank and insurance company) has done more than right by me, they where quick, and very helpful. The ins guy even stayed and chit-chatted with me. Oh and my rates went up by 4 bucks a month
Fitting two 12's into the back cargo area will be difficult. Using 3/4" MDF, you are looking at about 20.5" of open space that the motor assemblies (magnets) could drop down into. I don't know the dimensions of the motors, so I don't know if they will fit down into the cargo area or not. I did a quick calculation based on the sub size given by Kenwood, and the magnets would need to be less than 7 9/16" in diameter before they hit the side walls of the box.
Each sub requires about 1.25 ft^3 according to Kenwood, so you are looking at building a false floor across the back that will help make up that space. You only get about 0.88 ft^3 in the cargo area, so the remaining 1.62 ft^3 needs to come from the false floor.
If you build a false floor that takes up the entire rear part of the car, you can raise the mounts for the targa top at the same time. This will give you extra clearance for the top/box transition. Depending on how you do it, you may end up partially blocking the rear speakers.
As for a set of plans, you're probably on your own. I have a set of plans for a single box that fits the cargo area, but it's not going to work for two 12's.
Hope this helps.
