Default speaker size and type for front door mount

Do people mostly go with a 6.5 separate setup up front and in the rear or go with an 8" mid bass size speaker in the door and a 5.25 separate for the rear?

how deep of a speaker will fit in the door?

how have most of you protected the speaker from the elements that drip down the window? Do you use Styrofoam baffles?

What year/generation Corvette are we talking about here? C5? C6?

Most of the info you want is in the respective FAQ's. It's at the top of the Audio/Electronics forum page.

If it's a C5 coupe, then you have a lot of options. 6.5" components up front are most common, but you can go bigger if you want. Rear speakers in a coupe are 6.5" but convertibles/FRC/Z06 have 5.25" rears. Some run rear speakers, others don't. (I don't.) Coupes need to be careful when choosing rear speakers as the fuel filler tube restricts the depth of the driver. Not sure if this is the case with vert/FRC/Z06.

I posted a picture in the FAQ that lists the depth of the C5 door if you are interested.

Check out the FAQ's and let us know if there is anything else you need help with.

i have some old focal 165k's that the cones seemed to become warped so i am not sure if i should still use them or go to something else like a larger driver for the door.

I will check the faq

I just installed some 6.5" 3 way's in my doors,
wich diddnt have any in to start with,
holy cow, what a pain that was.

cutting door pannels with a jigsaw while theyr still attached to the door is crazy!!!!! im glad I diddnt goof it up. door panels are kinda expensive to replace. - o and running wires is also quite frustrating.
