Default Need better sound for c-4 front

Hello,
I am currently working on my 94 and need some insight.
I have a Pioneer head unit ( DEH 790 BT ) and Helix A-6 amp to install along with single 12 ported down fire box. I accutally have 2 questions
1, from your past experience what is the best way to put seperates in a c-4? I do have the dash out but if I mount them into the dash pad they will bounce of the windsheld. I don't know if that is good or bad? I would like to create more presence in the front.
2 ,will be, which rear speakers? but the may depend on how question # 1 turns out.
Thanks for you input
Ron

Hello Ron, welcome to the forum. I have never seen a set of speakers installed into the dash pad, I don't think there is enough room. There is a forum member, Spkrboy who did install some 7" mids in the door of a '94, please see this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1888826

Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

Randy

BTW, did you read the C4 sticky at the top of the section? Lots of good info there.

ive got a set of pioneer 3 ways up under the dash in the stock speaker locations, they are solely powered by the headunit,
I have 6.5" 3 ways in the door pannels
and I have a set of 9by9" 3 ways in the rear pods
both of those are powered by a 4 channel amp.

if I was going to mount those tiny little tweaters that come seperate, I would try and take off the moulding for the front interior winshield,
and fiberglass them in to it, ( so it looks more factory )
but the most important part of installing those little buggers, is that they should be facing the pasangers, or if your stingy, aim them both at the driver seat, hehe.

if they are just pointed where ever they wont have as much "up front" feeling,

even with all 4 3way speakers up front I kinda lost my up front presence when I installed my 18" jbl sub in the rear hatch cargo area. it pretty much dominates all the other speakers, and altho I have defining bass, I also still have good sounding high notes and the music still has its propper range. its just a tad bit overkill.
(its just harder to breathe with it cranked up)

Holy crap.

Anyway, to the original poster,

The more speakers you have, and the more locations the speakers are in, the worse your car will sound. Reflections, cancellations, reinforcements, yadda yadda. Apparently some people really like this kind of sound though... It's impossible for a system like this to bear any semblance of realism through sound quality or staging. However, a system like that will sound extremely loud. Sorry Brian84.

You do not want to reflect off of glass. This is bad.

Definitely look at spkrboy's vette install if you can find it, it looks pretty ideal with his locations, and he certainly knows what he is doing.

Usually, yes it is. My tweeter install had some minor comb-filtering issues, but because I pushed them so far forward on the dash pad, it was minimized as much as possible. If I had enough fiberglass knowledge and/or skill at the time, I might have tried something in the A-pillars, but my choice of low-Fs tweeter might have killed it anyway.

Thanks, Kale. That whole blind-squirrel concept comes to mind. I don't have too many pictures floating around, and I never did an install documentary, so the thread Randy linked is about as good as it gets. Sorry.

Randy, thanks for the link. That is what I was trying to find.

spkrboy, You do some nice work. I will try this my self. It may take me a little while to get back with you guys, seeing that this is the week to put the motor in. Atleast I can get some suff ordered

now, what about the rear?since I have 12 back there now,

Your right I have tried differnt types of speakers front-back and nothing sounds good.
I think we are on the right track.
Thanks again
Ron

For the rear, if you are going w/ subs, you can fit two 8" in the stock location. This should sound good, and you will not have to use up any of your limited space.

Good luck
