Powered subwoofer in convertible
So if you know you are going to have to wire for power, its not that big of a leap to have the amp and box be seperate components. Also, many aftermarket companies offer amps with built in crossovers and speaker level inputs so that might save you from changing a thing. I dont know how much of a bass signal the BOSE electronics will send to the rears but if youve got to run a wire anyway, get a clean signal coming right out of the head unit before it gets to the BOSE. On a C6 you can use a 20 dollar wiring bundle from PAC to intercept the signal, but its possible to splice into the wires if no premade harness exists.
If you are willing to sacrifice some space then get a large ported enclosure with a 10 or 12 inch driver that fits in the trunk and find some way to temporarily secure it in case you have a road trip or need the space. Find an amp that has the right options and then have your installer permanently mount it. Run the wire to the box. Once its in, you just set the level that you think is a good compromise among your different types of music and you are done.
Its a pretty straightforward add. But for good sound, I would avoid the all-in-one subwoofers.
