so just have a board on the back of the carpet to drill into? do you think that might look ghetto? should I try to just install them with a board behind the carpet?
also, I looked on the faq and this part wouldnt load for me...the step by step instructions to installing the head unit, which wires will i have to hook up from the receiver? I am not powering anything with the alpine the speakers are all amp driven, If I can get some step by step on how to do that I should be ok thanks!

I'll check on he FAQ to see if it's working, If you need help send me a PM. Your idea about cutting holes in the speaker covers will work, I did it on my car, but I would not recommend it. Those speaker covers are very hard to find in good condition, and you will kick the speakers w/ your feet every time your in the car. Use the old speaker pod's, cut them to fit the new speakers, and be done w/ it.
yeah mine arent in perfect condition... I was thinking if I peel that carpet off I could drill it directly into that piece of plastic, then put the grille over the speaker and the carpet back over the top and it should look stock, maybe drill the holes with the speaker on top then actually put it in from the bottom, as an update the amp came in today, I have the old HU out and all the new wiring run, just waiting on the new HU and front speakers and I should be good to go. Ill post pics when I finally get finished thanks guys!
New update, the front speakers are in, I just ended up mounting them in the stock position but I cut a hole in the carpet and you can see them when you get in the car. Also i found out that the amp I purchased was not as listed so I am returning it and am powering the kappas with an eclipse amp. Also I will be using an eclipse amp to power the infinity subwoofer I just purchased off of ebay. I am taking out the flip up panel behind the pass. seat and above the receiver and I have a place that is going to custom build a fiberglass box and use the existing carpet over it so the sub wont even be visible, I think this is really going to be a good sounding system I will post pics when finished.
I was finally able to access that on the FAQ, now that I have the old head unit out lol. Anyways is there something like that for installing a new head unit and what wires from the receiver I need to use? thanks!
installed sub (really just pulled out all of the junk in the storage and siliconed a piece of wood over it I know its not technically savvy with cu ft and everything but it was free)
got amp for speakers from ebay, had to send it back
