What year car, and do you know which interface they used? Did it work with RAP or just turn off with the ignition?

On my D3 it powers on/off with the car and RAP (turns off when I open a door, not turning off the ignition). The iPod will remain powered on for 10 minutes or so AFTER the car and D3 power down, that's normal, and it will eventually turn itself off. I think that's the D3's way of making sure the iPod is charged for the next use, who knows.

Is the iPod what you're talking about or is the D3 itself staying on?

Not to run you off, but if it is a problem with the D3 you might get better help at this site:

To turn it off manually go to the AV Menu screen and hit the OFF button in the bottom right corner.

It sounds to me like the interface they used to connect the D3 to your car went bad. It's supposed to monitor the data line and control the accessory power to the radio, like it used to, not keep it on all of the time. It could be worse, it could have failed in OFF.

You can get a pdf of the manual by clicking here

I suppose it is possible that the red power wire (switched) is touching the yellow (constant) power wire. You did say that this started after you hooked up the iPod cable, so you may have pulled something a bit too tight.

Try taking the dash apart again and checking that the red and yellow wires going from your interface to the D3 aren't touching. If they aren't, unplug the wires from the back of the D3 and see if the red wire has +12VDC coming out of it even when the car is off. If it does, your interface is kaput, but should still be under warranty if it's only been a month.
