Non-nav ipod head unit recommendations.
Dear car audio gurus,
Can anyone recommend a good head unit with ipod integration? Budget is under $300; even less is better.
I will be getting a C6 with the base (non bose) system, but want true ipod integration. I've never gotten aftermarket stereo parts before, but I'm trusting that just switching head units isn't hard? I don't care about navigation, cd, xm, or sirius. I just use my ipod. Hands-free bluetooth would be a nice plus (I may get an iphone at some point). I like being able to equalize my sound, so if it has more than just base/treble that would be great.
I may replace the rest of the system later but I want to start simple. So for now I only want a head unit that would still work well if I did decide to upgrade at some point.

I have the iDA-X001. When it came out, it was by far the BEST head unit to use with an iPod. It has since been replaced by the IDA-X100, X200, and X300.
The iDA-X001 is short on features... no tunable EQ, no crossover, no CD player... but it works great with both my iPod and my iPhone.
You might be able to find one cheap now that the new units are available, or just get one of the new ones.

I just installed a pioneer deh-7900bt. Has ipod controls and the best thing is that it has bluetooth features. If you have a bluetooth phone you can have a hands free phone in your car. You can find this unit on fleabay for under 300.00
