Is it necessary?
Dumb question and I think I know the answer. Should I put dynamat....think I need it? I am going to add a 12" sub and I dont want a lot of rattling? Is dynamat going to make that much of a difference?

Sound deadening makes all the difference in our cars... as does closed cell foam. (Do a search for Ensolite on Google.)
I damped my car and the difference was really noticeable. Friends ride in my C5 vs. theirs and can't believe how much more quiet mine is. Damping my doors increased my mid-bass substantially.
Kale and TheRadioFlyer have done a lot of damping... hopefully they will chime in with their experiences.
