The biggest PITA is supporting the hatch while removing the rear struts to get the panel off. An extra set of hands helps out a lot in this case.

Otherwise, the panel just pops right off from what I can remember. I'll check my pictures at home and post some later if that would help.

This shouldn't be too hard. I am going to assume it is similar to a C6.

Tie up the hatch lock or hook up to the garage door. Have it open slightly more than normal.

The rear struts, twist them until the top comes off. There might be a connector, just tug it off. The bottom portion is a little bit more difficult. There is a lock ring, and a space to fit a small flat screwdriver. Slowly open the lock ring, make sure you DONT POP IT OUT, I heard it's a PITA to put back in. As long as you have it partially out, you should be able to tug it off. Then the panels should come out.

This worked for my C6 and I will assume it could be similar?

If it is, check out my thread, I have a write up on this with pics.

On the C5 you only need to pop loose the strut at the hatch. The panel will slide up and off the strut easily.

I do mine by getting the panels loose, then supporting the hatch with my shoulder while popping the strut from the hatch. Remove the panel, re-attach the strut, and move to the other side and repeat.

Using a rope/chain/bungee cord would make things much easier.
