Default Paging 99HT- Tweeter Install

Hello... and Thanks in advance...

I have read your posts and bought some tweeters and installed a sub woofer today... I have a problem figuring out where to connect the tweeters I bought.... I understand that I should connect them to the rear speakers but I was wondering if I have to run a wire from the actual speakers... or can I tap the wires near the stock HU? If so which wires should I tap to get optimal quality...I plan to place the tweeters inside the door w/ a flush mount....

One question about the wiring of the sub too... (Sorry)

Instead of creating RCA plugs and running RCA cables... I bought some quailty RCA cables and just cut off one end and used the bare wire end to make the connections... Will this cause a problem? I figured that if the RCA's were there it would just be one more connection that can reduce sound quality...

Along the same lines... I plan to directly tap the tweeters into place in the same fashion... it just depends where?

I am using a tap like the one in the picture:

I just place my wire and the HU wire into this and *CLICK* its tapped...

Add the tweeters in parallel with the rear speaker wires which are available behind the HU. The rear Twiddlers are actually midrange speakers. Adding a tweeter and crossover in parallel with the rear speakers will be the lowest distortion way to go. The two speakers will have a different frequency response. Place the Tweeters to point at the occupants heads.

Bose system rear speaker wiring on back of HU

Signal-Color code

RR+ C2(18) DK BLU
RR- C2(17) LT BLU

LR+ C2(20) BRN
LR- C2(19) YEL

The HU pre-amp outputs are as follows:

Signal-Color code

LF out C4(9) TAN/BLK
RF out C4(10) LT GRN/BLK
LR out C4(11) BRN
RR out C4(12) DK BLU
Shield C4(14) Bare wire

You can use the front or rear pre-amp outputs to feed your sub amp. It depends on how you want the fader to work. Most people use the rear. Use long RCA cables with one connector cut off to tap the wires. Make sure you get good power and ground connections to the amp.

You can use any method you want to tap the HU wiring harness, but soldering the connections would minimize the chance of long term corrosion.

Thanks.... I thought about soldering... but I am not good at it... I am going to use heat shrink tubing around all if my connetions... plus ... the tap seems to be in a position that corrosion shouldnt be a factor(I think) ... but I think the tubing will keep out anything that is "Evil" towards my connections....

Oh yeah... for the power and ground I am using the battery....
