Anybody here...

Anybody here put a sound system in their vette without using something like Damplifier or similar product? What were the results?

can you do it yeah, but atleast do the doors behind the speaker and around the baffle

It will be fine. The difference in deadening is, mho, minor. And I say that, having more weight in deadening than my doors themselves. Sealing the door perfectly is highly overrated. Plus deadening brings the door's resonance into midbass regions, which is very annoying and harder to deal with. Honestly, if I was to do it all over today, knowing what I've learned even in the last few months, I wouldn't deaden the door (surface with speaker mounting.) I would reinforce it only.
