Default Interesting FM reception issue with new amp!

I give up, everytime I touch this thing it seems to go backwards.

The lastest is I swapped out the amp to a JL 500/5 mounted in the rear like the previous amp was before. Now, the FM reception is horrible! Its like the antenna cable was pulled.

Has anyone else run into this before on installs?

I know the antenna module and cheesy antenna loop are mounted in the back. The last amp (s) had no issues at all, I think it may have to do with the RIPS power regulation built into the amp. Its funny, I cam move wires/amp around and the reception changes.

Any experience would be appreciated..

Nav Head unit btw, worked fine with other amp.

The sub channel on the 500/5 is a class D amp(500/5 is A/B front & rear, D on sub channel). Class D amps are known to cause reception problems. If the amp & the antenna amp are in close proximity as you've described, I don't know that you have a way around that.

Nice, I shoulda left the junk amp I had in there .

I have been messin with the rear antenna stuff and having some success. I swapped the amp back to the previos POS and it was fine so atleast I know its the amp for sure causing it.

Ive been through the same exact thing as you. My 500/5 ruined my reception as well. I spoke to a JL rep in Florida and he told me the same thing about class D amp sometimes ruining reception. I removed the 500/5 and in its place used the 450/4 to run the fronts and rear fill and a 300/2 bridged on the stealthbox. Problem solved.Neither amp is a Class D.
Speak to your installer they should work with you. Dont let them BS you like my first installer did. I heard it from the horses mouth!
