Default XM reception sucks - C6

What's up with the XM reception. Every time I go under a tree or next to a building it cuts out.

It even cuts out on the freeway why I pass trucks sometimes.

I am going to be getting a new Alpine HU eventually, but is there XM antenna/reception going to be better?

Any temporary solutions?

Compared to Sirius, XM reception is flawless.

For the 5 or 6 months I ran XM in my '06 I never had trouble with XM reception. However the antennas are in the mirrors, which is rather low and can be blocked fairly easily - by a pickup truck next to you at a light even depending on the direction you're facing. But still, the problem sounds more like what I experience with Sirius than what I would expect with XM.

Honestly though, unless there's a problem with one of the antennas there's really nothing to do done that would make a dramatic improvement.

That's strange, I got good reception with Sirius, but that was on my pickup truck.

The biggest problem we face in our Vettes is the fibreglass body panels. When you use one of those magnetic antennas that come with XM & Sirius radios and put it on any other car the entire body & frame become additional antenna surface area. Can't get that from a fibreglass body so your antenna is WAY smaller.
