I hate to even add this, but I am pretty sure this has been addressed, but my search-fu is coming up with thousands of results and after reading hundreds (none of which have my answer) I am religated to a possible repost
Anyway, I have a C6 with Nav and am looking to put in a new head unit. I found a lot of threads about upgrading the Bose HU, but not specifics on the NAV HU.
Questions:
Are most aftermarket NAV HU's going to use the same GPS antenna as the stock? I am looking at Kenwood units and possibly the Panasonic or Pioneer.
Are there any issues on the harness adapters for the NAV? I found the step-by-steps for an AVIC install for a non-nav equiped car. What are the differences? EDIT I am specifically talking about connectivity to the BOSE amps and such.
Thanks!

Well, I am going ot go with a 7100 or 7120 (probably the 7120 if the interface is better than the 7100....comments appreicated on that topic).
Has anyone put a kenwood nav head unit into a NAV equipped car and can give me the skinny on what connectors I ACTUALLY need to make this happen while retaining the factory amp/speakers?
The stock nav HU is not bad . You would get much better results by spending the money on amps and speakers. That's what I did, and I now have a system that will rival any.
Just my opinion.
Good luck
Thanks for the opinion, but my factory nav broke very recently....and I (stongly) disliked the nav interface.
While I do not have any NAV in my C5 right now, I am looking for a HU to put into her. I have talked and researched alot of the brands ie Pioneer, Apline, Kenwood etc. I have been told by many that the kenwood are the way to go. Good choice to go with the DNX 7120. I would however get new speakers, Car Toys had the Focals 165 KF on sale for $399. They are normally $600. The sound is incredible. Blows the Bose speakers away. For the rears you can go with a Focal 130
CA1 and the set up for the speakers will run just over $600. You will need an amp to drive the speakers and you can also add a subwoofer if you choose to. I am not sure if the Kenwood would be compatible with the stock antenna for the GPS. I would call your local car audio place and they should be able to tell you what your options are.
kenwood is the way to go the interface blows factory away
you should be able to use the same antenna i believe its the same plug if not its not like it matters, u just toss the antenna under the dash by the center channel speaker like the stock one is and your good to go
as long as you get the right harness interface no problems at all
