Best Amp dor SQ? Audison/Alpine
I've heard many good things about both amps...
I'm looking at:
Alpine PDX 4.100 (4x100w @ 4 Ohms)
Audison SRX4 (4x60w @ 4 Ohms)
As for a little background info
Active crossover setup:
HU: Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS
Door Tweets: Seas 27TFFNCG (80w RMS @ 4Ohms)
Door woofer: Mach 5 MLI-65 (100w RMS @ 4Ohms)
Any thoughts/comment/opinions?
Thanks,
-Jason

The PDX will run those speakers just fine. I'd go for the least expensive one that best fits your install.

The Alpines I've heard are a bit harsh, but then again, that was driving a set of Focals. Swapping in an Xtant in place of the Alping PDX made a large improvement, so it was certainly the amp to an extent. I'd go with the Audison unless that much power is important to you, IMHO.

That's not even close. Audison by a wide margin. I've been running JL slash series for years and have been very happy with them but after listening to the Audison and Zapco amplifiers I would make a change. I have a PDX in my truck and it will be getting sold soon. Very harsh.

So you'd give up a bit of power (volume) to gain the sound quality of the Audison...Hmmm...

Well, I can go with the Audison, and if the power is insufficient, I can bridge it and buy another two channel...

Depends on the efficiency of the drivers. My Morels can take a ton of power but I've had them playing on as little as 75 watts a channel and they had plenty of volume and sounded fantastic.

Damn, I just bought an Alpine PDX 5 to drive my Focals and JL Audio sub. I almost wish I would have seen this before I bought it.

I dont think my PDXs sounded harsh at all. They did, however, sound different... Sort of like all of the speakers were closer together.
I prefer the sound of my new ARC KAR amps, but miss the alpine's efficiency.

My PDX sounds really good. It's small and very clean unit. The best part of it that it does not heat up, very efficient.
