Question on powering two 10" subs
I am looking at this from the Corvette Car Audio/ Madvette Motorsports guy: http://cca.madvettemotorsports.com/s...ct_detail&p=73
It's an enclosure for two 10" woofers in the back of a coupe/Z06. Looks very nice. At this point I am trying to decide whether to go with just one sub or two as depicted.
Powering them all is my question - I realize 300W is the "avg sweet spot" for many common subwoofers. I am not too up currently on power requirements ,but when pushing TWO subwoofers, do I need to have two 300W amps? or can I push both subs with one 300W amp? I don't want anything to be underpowered but at the same time if I could only have to buy one 300W amp instead of a 600W or whatnot.
FYI the amp I would be going with is the PDX line from alpine: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...odel=PDX-2.150
I just have to figure out the costs (and if each setup would "work") for each scenerio:
1 10" sub 1 300W amp
2 10" subs 1 300W amp
2 10" subs 1 600W amp
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Jeff

I have decided on what subs and amp I want to use, but since I am not an audiophile I would like some confirmation on "will it work properly"
Subs: TWO (2) JL 10w1V2's. Optimum power 150W RMS
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=15
Amp: Alpine PDX-5 putting out 75X4 , and 300X1 on the bass side of it. (I will have 4 component sets up front/rear).

My original question now that I have decided is that with these particular sub woofers, is it possible to power them both properly (sending each 150W) off the single 300W channel from this particular subwoofer? I am not familiar with proper wiring multiple subwoofers off a single channel.
Thanks
Jeff
jeff, you need the 10W1v2-4 for them to work properly with that amp. though i think you would get better results if you went with a single higher quality 12" (dual 4 ohm voice coil)
two JL 10W1's in two separate boxes= roughly 60lbs.
one JL 10W3V3 in one BOXOLOGY enclosure= 29lbs.
granted you will get a little more (maybe 2 db.) output out of the two 10W1's, though it will cost you in the neighborhood of $250 more and add twice the weight. Not to mention that the 10W3V3 is a big step in sound quality over their W1 line (ask anyone who has ab'd them, even JL will tell you that)...
Last pitch... so you are from Texas, eh.
either way, glad to have given you the option...

go with the single higher quality woofer. add more power if you need it louder (which you dont if you want a well balanced system) and you'll have the added benefit of having a nicer sounding system.
If you go with one 12" on that amp, try to get it in a 2ohm version or dual voice coil 4 ohm version so you can get 2 ohms on that amp.
