I figured since the radio doesn't affect performance, that this would be a better section to pose a question. I have an aftermarket JVC system installed in my car, with a 12-disc CD player underneath the back hatch. The radio has never worked, nor the cd or cassette player. When I turn on the sound, I can hear fuzz according to how loud it's set, and gets louder with treble. I'm stumped as to whether the amps are really blown or there's a missing connection for the cd-player.
His is a 86, says so on his profile. But you need to give more info?
Are you using stock speakers/amp or aftermarket?
If aftermarket, did you use stock wiring?
How is the changer hooked up?
Does the radio work? If it does, and your problem is just w/ the CD, it is the changer that is the problem, or the wires that connect it to the radio. First off, make sure the changer has power, could just be a bad fuse. Do a google search on the brand and model numbers to see if you can find the manuals, and use them to trouble shoot the problem.
It was installed when I got the car, but I do believe the speakers are stock Bose. The radio does not work, and I can't even get it to function let alone get a station to come in. Not sure about an aftermarket amp or not, but I don't even know where they snaked all of the wiring. It goes under the paneling behind the seat. Guess I have to take a look for some online manuals.
The whole section around the cassette player/clock does not work at all. It rewinds a tape and that's about it. I checked all the fuses last night after I blew out one on my dashboard. Everything else checked out fine.
Get a new speaker or a loaner from a friend and hook it up. Sounds like the HU is bad or it blew out all the speakers. Stock radios are only 1 ohm, so usually you have to replace the HU, wiring and speakers when you get an aftermartket, though some have found away to use the stock speakers and wiring with no problems.
