Default Okay back to replacing everything but the head unit...

I think I may just save a couple hundred bucks and replace everything.

I will keep the factory head unit, how does this sound to you guys:
front stage:
Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS
rear stage and center:
unplug stock speakers
subs:
2 re re8s in two .35 cube airspace boxes (looking for something to fit under the targa and not take up much space)
amp:
eclipse xa4000
125x2 to the front components and 350x1 to the two subs (or 175x2 to the two subs at 2 ohms)

a basslink would cost me 300 bucks plus 60 for replacement 3.5s

I already have the front stage sitting in a box in my closet, xa4000 amp is under $200 shipped on ebay, 2 re8s are about $120 shipped on ebay. I am making the box design so simple that i could build it so that shouldnt be bad. Only price difference is building a box and speaker adapters for the components.

Seems like you've got yourself a good plan there. I have no experience with Eclipse amps but their equipment has a good reputation for sure. The power ratings seem to be appropriate to the tasks you intend. I know there are a lot of guys here that really like those Pio components as well.

Good luck!

yeah thats why i ended up with the pioneers, the reviews were awesome for them, they have been in my closet for over a year. I also have a beautiful tc oem10 but with a mounting depth of about 9 inches and being able to take 1500watts rms, its not quite the direction i am heading in...lol

now im thinking if re8s would be good or just get re10s for about 20 bucks more, they will be right behind the seats in the trunk firing up. I would love to have great 8s as noone except for audio people thinks of 8s as subs, all my friends are like get a 15 inch

I have a JL8w7 on 750ish watts that I can guarantee no one thinks is an 8

I think the plan sounds pretty solid, I know that the xa line has some crossover's in it, just can't remember how extensive they are. Power looks good, the 720's like (and need IMO) power. I had 164w per driver (328 per pair) in my truck and they loved it. I also was full active and kept the crossover points pretty conservative on the mid to keep it from damage on the low end from over excursion.

Might be worth looking into a single 12" instead of 2 8's, but you technically have more cone area with 2 8's IIRC. The re line is pretty well liked especially their 8's.

Depends on how much bass you need really and how much space you are willing to give up.

G'luck

yeah i dont want to give up too much space, thats why i want to go with the 8s, im almost satisfied with the stock stereo so im sure this will blow it away. Im not going to run full active but passive setup. It went from replacing the 3.5s and a basslink to actual components and subs so i think that should already be good enough...lol
