Default Kenwood DNX-8120
Has anyone installed one of these? I have it installed but having trouble with the iPod connection. I can plug the ipod with the usb and navigate through the ipod and it appears to play but there is no sound. If I select a video it appears to play but no sound or video. If I connect with iPod cable it says it's not connected but if I select a song or video on the ipod itself it will play but no video or control though the head unit.

Is there one specific ipod cable required or will any of the Kenwood ipod cables work?

You will need the ipod specific cable. Not sure if any brand will work but the kenwood ipod cable will work for sure.

When the dealer installed mine we had the same problem. The audio connector was plugged in the wrong place on the radio. There are several plugs that are the same, but for different things. I remember seeing a note in the installation manual that it had to be in a specific plug. I think (but am not sure) that it is usb and there are a bunch of them back there but only 1 that works for the iPod.

Got it fixed and everything works great now. The installer had forgotten to plug the cord into the back of the head unit.
