I added a powered 8" Kenwood sub to the rear of my C5. It has connections for input from the speakers and it has RCA connections. I used the speaker inputs and the wires from the rear speakers. The problem is it is not very loud at all. Is the signal too weak to power the sub. Would a hi/lo convertor do the trick and should I still use the rear speaker wires for the signal or try the front.
Thanks in advance for your help. I see by reading the posts on here that you are the man.
Re: Added a sub to the C5 Question for 99HT??? (Garceeya)
You need to either tap the front speaker outputs or, preferable, go with a cut RCA and tap into the HU front pre-outs that 99HT has identified, behind the HU. The rear speakers have their signal internally crossed over to where they don't get any low frequencies.

So you are saying that just using a set of cut RCA cables and tapping them into the front pre-outs will work. Why is everyone telling me to get one of these Hi/lo convertors??
Re: Added a sub to the C5 Question for 99HT??? (Garceeya)
Noone really knows how the C5 system works, and I guarantee noone has taken one apart and experimented like 99HT has. A year ago, I was one of the installers who recommended the High-Low level signal converter. After 99HT's research, we find that the stock HU already has low level pre-outs. Search for his posts on here and read the proper pins and wires to attach your cut RCA to.
Re: Added a sub to the C5 Question for 99HT??? (Garceeya)
The Front and rear Twiddler speakers are ONLY fed signals 1khz and above. You should tap the HU low level Pre-amp outputs. These are not filtered.
The HU pre-amp outputs are as follows:
Signal CD/Radio Color code
LF out C4(9) TAN/BLK
RF out C4(10) LT GRN/BLK
LR out C4(11) BRN
RR out C4(12) DK BLU
Shield C4(14) Bare wire
You can use the front or rear pre-amp outputs. It depends on how you want the fader to work. Most people use the rear. Use long RCA cables with one connector cut off to tap the wires. Make sure you get good power and ground connections to the amp.
Do a search on this subject, it has been covered numerous times before.
