I had Best Buy install an Alpine CDA-9886 with the two Sirius satellite units (one is an interface and the sc-c1 is the tuner?). It also has IPOD and USB capabilities. First, the ipod doesn't shut off with the car. I have read online that this is a "known" problem, and there isn't a fix. But, more importantly, over the last 3 weeks, the satellite has been "lost" 3 times. When I say lost, I mean when I go through the sources, satellite is no longer an option. Each time, I go back, and leave the car and they tell me that they had to reset the system by unplugging it all and resetting the HU. Well, once, OK, twice, I am pissed, but now 3 times? They are replacing the HU, but I don't think that is what the problem is, I think it is the SC-C1 tuner. Has anyone had any experience with this. Usually, you can find a forum for anything, but I can't find anything for this HU. Please help, and Thanks
My son has the same problem with a Kenwood head and Kenwood sirius receiver. He has reset his every day since this past Friday when he installed it! So, you are not alone.
I hope this is an uncommon problem with an easy fix!

Sounds like it is not wired correctly. The interface (I think) needs to be wired to a hot all the time lead. But your line about the Sirus having an interface and a tuner is strange; why not just get a interface that runs Sirus through the tuner?
Your right about the iPod, mine does the same thing.
The 9886 requires and interface AND a tuner. I have read where some people have used the previous model tuners without the interface, and they have worked, but I am no expert there. I think the interface is requried since the deck gets both satellite companies, so the interface and the tuner are both needed. I am going to let them replace the HU on Thursday, and I am going to go by there today and make them put in a new interface and tuner as well. Thanks for the replies. Oh, and I actually read that you can buy a "new" cable that shuts the ipod off (mine is only 3 weeks old and they have a new one?)

My setup is Eclipse, will the new cable work on it as well? Do you have a link?
Update: I had them exhange the HU and the Sirius Tuner today, I would have them change the interface as well, but they were out of stock of course. So, if something goes wrong now, I know the culrpit is the interface. I am hoping these problems are done now. It's crazy to spend this kind of money on a system and have the kappas blow almost instantly and then have these problems. At least the R4 sub is still thumping away. The interface is wired hot at all times, so we just changed the tuner and hu, then reset the interface and all is well... for now, i am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help, and in case you are wondering, the 9886 that was just put in is a different fromthe one that was taken out, it has a few more menu features, and a small rubber gasket around the large ****, but the Ipod still stays on....
I can't answer your question directly, but if all your hardware is Alpine, call their Tech Support at 1-800-832-4101.
I have the 9887 with the Imprint processor. Thought something was wrong after the install because I had no Bass or Treble controls. Got right through with about a 2 minute wait. The guy answered my questions without any problem. I was impressed.
I took you advice and called Alpine, they said it was the interface... SHOCKER.. On a good note, they are sending me anothe cable the goes between the ipod and the HU to tell it to shut off the ipod.
I have no idea if anyone is reading this, but another update. We replaced the interface today. So far, so good, we will see if I have Sirius later today.....
Well, another update. Best Buy replaced everything, and guess what? problem is still there. After tearing my dash out 15 times to unplug the interface to "reset" it, I wired a switch on the power line so when it happens, I can just turn it off then back on and everything works fine. I called Alpine.... again... and they said that I must have had 2 bad sets of hu, interface, or tuner installed. I am guessing the answer to that is a big fat NO, so Best Buy has agreed to change me out to another brand. It sucks, because I have always been loyal to Alpine, and I love the sub and amp, but this is unacceptable. They also told me they are shipping me the extra cable for free, but I have yet to see it.
