I'm in the process of installing an aftermarket stereo in my 94 C4, and I've got everything connected, and the headunit (Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD)powers up just fine, but as soon as the CD begins to play, the unit power cycles and goes back into Demo mode (basically, the unit turns off). The demo mode still requires power, of course, so it's not as if the power supply is gone, but there's something triggering the unit to shut down and then go into "demo" mode.
Any ideas? Sound like a faulty headunit, or is this a sign that my wiring is messed up? FWIW, I've done many stereo installs, but the layout in the C4 with the receiver behind the seat is one big clusterf**k.
EDIT: I think I located the problem, my USB drive was connected, and it appears to be drawing too much power. WHen the drive is disconnected, the unit seems to function normally.
