The manual says to connect it to the power side of the parking brake.
To bypass the safety feature, would it work the same if I connected it to a switched power source? Wouldn't this be the same as if the parking brake was applied and the switch was activated?
Many insurance compainies when you make a claim of a stolen system, or are in an accident will investigate to see if you have a wire ran from your parking brake and brake switch if needed.
ask me how i know as i use to do the investigations for state farm. and they will dent your claim. So run the wire..........
im just saying be forewarned, if your installing it now, yea just run the wire then bypass it. It's better to be forewarned then after the fact saying i should of Done it in the first place when there denying your claim.
i don't care who u call and tell, Thats on you.
And It gets connected to the ground of the Pb wire
Cause i mean how hard is it to run that wire????? The whole piece is off, a whole 2 mins????

How does the car manufactors get away with not having to use a parking brake on cars that has NAV?
on every oem unit ive ever used car must be in park or parking brake set
so he brings up a good point run the wire to the parking break and "connect wink wink" it behind the unit, but actually bypass it
I was talking to a guy at work that has a 2007 Honda with factory Nav and his works while driving. He says it will come up with a warning on the screen, but after that, it works just fine while driving. He looked at me funny when I told him about the parking brake.
i know on my parents lexus once its out of park you have limited options like you cant enter address etc, but i think you can click a saved address or something like that. most cars lock out alot of options once its moving. all aftermarkets lock you out of alot of options
c6 vette you cant enter address and it locks you out of a few other things once the car is rollin
I'm trying to understand what the parking brake wire does! Does the parking brake only keep you from entering a Point of Destination? But you can still watch the Nav?
Because it will seem silly if you can't even use it as a map while going somewhere and you have to pull over and put the brake on to make sure you went the right way.
you can still view the map but it blocks you out of the enter an address and a few other things and no watchin dvd's while driving but you prly knew that
i always just bypass em because first off I want all features available at all times especially for passengers, and hell hooking up to the ebrake on alot of cars takes more time

if it is stolen, then why would a parking brake wire matter? ANd if it was stolen, some adapter actually have the parking brake in the adapter.....how do you expalin that....
cause if the unit is stolen and you claim it on your insurance that it was a dvd/nav unit and submit reciepts for 1, they will send someone out to investigate the claim to make sure Video in motion was not bypassed.
I did all State farm investigations and claims in the chicagoland area, They are Harsh on this, and it is Stated in there policy about nav and dvd units that they must be installed correctly.
Yes, If it is a Can Bus adapter some are located at the Can Bus adapter along with speed sense. So when you submit your receipts for your radio and adapters when you claim it, They will know, as will the installer or claim rep who is looking at your vehicle. The same goes for if you tear it up.
