I was reading in some other thread where somone had replaced the Bose amp in his C6. What is that? Is it an improvment (What am I saying? Anything would be an improvment.). Anyone have any links, experience?

You're probably seeing someone who installed an aftermarket amp & speakers but kept the factory head. The Bose amp is about the size of 2 decks of cards and you're simple not going to find an aftermarket replacement that's a direct swap.
I need to find the tread, they guy said that he just replaced the Bose board. And from what he said, it seems to have been just a board swap. Seems is the key word.

Even if it's possible I'm not sure what it would gain you. In this instance size definitely matters and replacing it would likely net you no more than a lateral move. Then you combine the reality that the problem with the system is a combination of the amp & speakers and not just one or the other.... give this a read if you haven't seen it before. I wrote it up about a year ago to keep from having to repeat myself.

Well let me put it this way. I have many issues with the Bose amp. First and foremost there is not enough high frequency, suffering from tinnitus I need more highs. The Bose plain sucks in that category. Second that horses**t speed sensed sound adjust is just stupid. This car is loud at speed and the volume needs to be raised. Understanding that the so called subs are self amplified and sound like someone beating on a 55gallon drum in the next room, I have put in a powered sub-woofer. I believe I was the first one here to do a speaker swap on the C6 and I did a detailed post on it.
That being said, a decent replacement board with a better range for the high freqs and an ambient noise sensor would be quite a coop. And I am not completely convinced that a decent amp (not high powered) wouldn't improve the bass.
