Has anyone hooked up an external hard drive to a Avic F700BT, F900BT, of F90BT yet?
From my understanding you should be able to run an inverter and plug the USB drive in via the USB cable. Is this true? Is any other hardware of software needed? If it is workable are there any external hard drives that are better than others for this type of application?
havent done it on this unit yet but have on many. but yeah plug it in via usb and go and plan on needing to put a usb hub or something in to provide power
also read the manual alot of times you have to format to fat32
I am thinking about going with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822161012
as the drive since it powers off of USB alone. The tech data states that is has the second USB port for old laptops that may not supply enough power via one USB. Has anyone ever done anything like this if so what are the pro's/cons?
I considered getting and iPod but I wouldn't use it for anything but the car so an extra $150 doesn't make the iPod as attractive as the drive. Any suggestions?
