Default c4 stereo questions

I'm new to this whole thing, this is my first Vette. The original Bose I have doesnt seem to work on the left side. I attempted to replace the radio with an aftermarket and it didn't work, no sound. I have since found out I needed to power up the pink wire? anyway...My question is what do I need to do to get some decent 6x9 and some differnt door speakers? DO I need to rewire the whole system or can I still use the wires or what? I know if I put an amp in I need to wire that up I'm just wanting to know what I need to do to dump the Bose speakers for now?

Since you did not say, have you read the C4 FAQ sticky at the top of the section?
I take it your car is an '88? When ever asking a question, always include the year of the car. If you want to replace the speakers/radio, your best bet is to rewire the speakers. Bose C4 speakers have the amps built into the speaker pods, the reason your speakers only work on the left side is that the right speaker amps have failed, a very common problem w/ the Bose setup. You could just send the speaker/amps out to be repaired, cost is about $100.00 a speaker, maybe less.
Read the FAQ, it should answer all of your questions.

Good luck, Randy

Randy, thanks for the info..I did go through the FAQ and I'm still stumped..

Do I have to run new wires completely from the hu to speaker? I have tried to plug up one and it had no sound. I used just the speaker wires and left the power and ground disconnected of course..what bypasses them or is new wiring the only way?...thanks

I think the easiest way would just be to run new wire. The stock stuff is tiny anyway, since it didn't carry any power. I routed my wire to the rear storage compartment, since I put in an amp for the speakers, but it shouldn't be any harder to run it to the h/u.

do you know where the stock wires run and what all I need to pull out for the most part to run the wires to the dash? I appreciate the help..

DO you know why I can't get the antenna to go up unless I'm using the factory Bose?

I'm thinking I used the amp remote wire to power the pink wire which I'm thinking that is the antenna bose relay wire? should i just use the igntn power wire to the pink wire?
