I have a 99 FRC and the only weakness I've found and haven't already addressed is the stereo system. I would like to replace with an aftermarket system with Nav and XM. I'm close to Northern VA. Any suggestions on a system and installer, best bang for the buk.
System: I just installed an AVIC-Z3 and love it! I actually bought a Z1 and bought a larger hard-drive with the Z3 software on it for less than the price of a Z3, so I'm happy.
As for the installer....you! Use the couple hundred you'd pay for an install to get nicer speakers or something....stereos aren't hard at all
Just pulling the console out scares me. Always afrad it will break. I'd like a custom system that doesn't pop up also. Maybe a fixed screen. Do you have any picture of the system? Where does the XM antenna go?

Depends on what is important to you. You can save a $ by doing the Avic, but you'll get an inferior DAC. I would spring for the extra couple hundred and get an Eclipse with 24 bit DAC. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6129
I've seen them on Ebay for ~1400 brand new/non-refurb. Although it is set-up for Sirius, not XM.
Both are good multimedia units, and have comparable navi stats, but my Avic sounded flat even with a great amp/speaker combo.
