No Speaker Volume? CDM Location?
All four speakers are out. No sound at all. I already took out the Head Unit, but where is this so called CDM on a 1990 vette.
I have have read about more fuses other than just the "Radio" fuse, but where are they?
I have read about an amp relay, where is it?
Where is this CDM?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Ray

Hello Ray, and welcome to the Forum.
The CDM is located in the dash, on the pass side of the car. To remove, you must first remove the hush panel down by your feet. Start by removing the door to the fuse holder, and then the three screws that hold on the beauty ring that includes the fuse door. Then run your hand on the hush panel were the carpet stops, and the plastic begins. There should be three more screws that hold that on. You should now be able to remove the hush panel. To see the CDM easliy, remove the air vent on that side, and look down inside the dash, you should see the CDM box. there are bolts on either side of it, and seveal plugs on both sides. remove them, and then push the CDM up and back. It will not come out w/o a fight.
Good luck.

BTW, read the C4 FAQ at the top of the section before you do any thing. Unless your car is a low milage garage queen, you may want to consider removing everything and replacing it w/ new, better equipment.
Thats what I did.
I am going to replace everything. New HU and Speakers.
Question: After I take out the amp can I use these wires that are attached to it to run the new speakers, and also the connections to the new Head Unit? or is it better to run new wires?

Ray,
It is better to run new wires, not that hard, since you will have everything apart anyway. It is also a good idea to leave the stock wires alone, so that it would be easy to reinstall the stock radio if you want/need to down the line.
Some things to think about doing while you have it apart are sound deadeding the interior, replacing the rugs, Repainting the bezel and console, replacing the shift boot (do a search on Redline), basicly freashening up the whole interior. Easier to do it all in one shot. I'll be doing mine when I get back from vacation at the end of the month.
