I have a Nuvi 760 that I have mounted to the right side of the radio bezel via proclip mount. I like it there, it works good, Wife does not bang it with her knee and she can reach it, etc...
Currently, I ran the power cable under the radio bezel and into the ash tray and use that as the power source. I would like to make a more.. cleaner power run.
Can someone give me some tips on how/where to run the power and connect it up for the gps? I don't mind it being in the ash tray, as I can just the door to it when not in use... if there was a way to have it there and plugged in with the door closed, that would be good enough.
I have a 660 and the traffic alert receiver is in the cylinder cigarette adapter.
i was unaware of that.... he could always hardwire a cig lighter socked behind the dash and plug it in there but that might mess with the traffic alert receiver reception

I think your original way is good, who cares about the traffic alerts
I think Garmin or aftermarket sells a wire that can get hardwired under passenger floorboard to the accessory power on and then it has a female connector so you can just plug in male connector (with traffic receiver) without cutting anything. I believe that is basically what you are saying by wiring in cig lighter socket.
I do like the traffic alerts. They worked pretty good where construction showed in / round Dallas on a trip.
In that case then look for an adapter that has the stripped wire ends and then a female receptacle (like a cig lighter) You would hardwire it on the passenger side floorboard and then plug in the cig adapter into it. You would then also have instant on/off when you turned the car off and on.
You have a different model then me though. You have a newer one - for all I know the traffic receiver might be built into the unit and not like mine at all.
Cool - Thanks everyone for the posts! I'll get looking into this in a few weeks (once work slows down some and I have time to find/purchase/install. I'll try to post back what I did and how it works!
