So much info...C6/Nav basic question...
Great site. However, there is a lot of information to go through. I'm absolutely certain my answer is here, but I just can't find it.
I have an 05 C6 with Nav and Blose (lol) upgrade. I'm not into spending crazy coin but what would anyone suggest in terms of having better and louder sound?
I'd prefer to keep my head unit. Perhaps change some speakers and an amp? If so, what kind and is it simply plug and play? Where would the amp be placed? Most importantly, any electrical concerns and warranty issues?
If it matters, I have ONSTAR (big brother).
Thanks to all that reply.

When it comes to adding amp & speakers in our cars, no such beast as plug & play. Read this to give you an idea of why:

So if you decide to add an amp and speakers to the factory NAV (my current configuration, though I'm going to change the head some day) here's the basics.
You'll need to run a power wire from the battery back to wherever you mount the amp. This involves either cutting and re-sealing the factory grommet and using that for the wire or drill a hole and use a grommet.
If you use an amp like one from the Alpine PDX series you can fit that in one of the cubbies. Since you have Onstar that means you have an extra box mounted in the passenger cubby, so the driver's side is likely the spot. Otherwise you can do an amp sled/rack mounted at the front of the hatch.
Speaker configuration-wise, the most common is a 6.5" 2-way coaxial in the doors, drop the rear speakers and put a 10" sub in a stealthbox in the back. JL makes a stealthbox sub as does forum vendor Boxology.
You will need a factory integration module. Since you have Onstar your choice is basically between the Metra GMOS-04 and the Peripheral combo (it's 2 separate modules) GMAH24/GMAHCM. You don't need the GMAH24B if you're not using the Bose amp, the regular GMAH24 will be fine.
I know there's a ton of info and it's a bit spread out, but there's a lot of value in the reading. Click links from the Audio FAQ linked below in my sig that seem appropriate to what you want to do. The more you read the more the pieces will fall into place for you.
