just picked up my car from Rockstar Desgins in the houston area from getting my new pillars made to fit many tweeters, thats why i picked these because if i change the components i do not have to get new pillars made. i have to say the craftsmanship is top notch and it sounds is even better.. i can actually hear my stereo over the cam/longtubes/stingers
Glad to see you made the trip over to Rockstar.. Rocky could probably do those C5 pillars in his sleep by now with how many he has done... looks good .
my tweeters are 1.25 in diameter and 13/16" depth... so they are pretty big as far as most simlar component sets go...
Radioflyer, these speakers have great quailty they just do not play as loud as i would like and i have trouble hearing them on the freeway with the windows down over the exhaust
I contacted Rocky. He does sell these mail order. He said $300 per set. I am considering a set, but would like comments regarding the sound staging/imaging that it appears that they will provide? Will the placement provide a definitive advantage to mounting them on the door speaker plate?

Definatly better than mounting thme in the speaker plate. The shorter wavelengths of the higher frequencies are easily blocked by things such as your leg on the drivers side. The passenger side will sound fine, but the staging will appear to be low and from the left.
Mounting the tweeters in the A pillars brings the staging up to eye level and allows both left and right channels a clear line of sight to your ear. Depending on the off axis response of the tweeters and the tuning of the system, you can further enhance staging.

Staging and quality will depend on the tweeter build itself. But generally, this is much superior to mounting in doors.
Thanks for the comments, guys. I purchased the Seas 27TFFNC/G awhile ago (active cross-over set-up). I've been watching to see if there was a better alternative to cutting up my A-pillar for a custom mount...Looks like this may fit the bill...It would best (if I am correct) to have them level with the eyes, however this set-up looks it's a bit lower than that. Still better than in the doors, I am sure...
