C5 Trunk Woofer Guys
Another dumb question maybe. My vert is a daily driver and I throw golf clubs and archery equipment and other stuff in my trunk almost daily. All the pictures I see are exposed woofers. Are there protective covers that go over these speakers to protect them or do you guys no longer use your trunk as a trunk?
Any other options?
Bill
whoever you buy box from make sure to ask if the cover will fit back on cause ive seen some boxes where it wouldnt

Includes hook and loop tape so it will "grab" onto the carpet (ie. no drilling holes for mounting).
Sounds ok to me

Got a set of rims for sale. If they go I will get a set of these.
Thanks

The shear of the hook is about 250 ft lbs for each of the two areas that it is applied to and works great on the rear carpet.
I did my homework
My Z06 is my BABY and I wouldn't do something stupid to it (yet).
You would have to try it before you knock it.
I wouldn't use the stuff for something that had substantial weight or mass or was tall.
The sub also reinforces the partition so the bottom can't slide forward.
To bad the hook won't work on the front carpet.
I had to "tie down" the other stuff under the passenger seat.
Hey Scott, your in LA, I am in Torrance.
If your around, I can show ya that the stuff works.

it's cool, just trying to look out for you. i'm shocked it weighs 10 lbs! my sub alone weighs like 25 lbs.
my calculations may possibly be wrong, but it seems like it'll fail in a 55 mph crash

Here is just a random crash test figure from an 07 Monte. This is the standard 35 mph, 1/2 front tests like you see on TV. It experienced 32/36 g's depending on what side of the car you are on. In a crash you are going to have a vertical as well as a horizontal vector on your speaker unless the crash is exactly horizontal which isn't going to happen real world.
This many horizontal g's + the lifting are going to turn a 10lb speaker into a missile coming forward.
EDIT: I just re-read this one and started wondering... shear is measured as force/area. ft-lbs doesn't fit this. If what you meant to say is 250lbs/ft^2 then unless you have a full square ft. of velcro under there you have even less than 250lbs of holding power which isn't even close to being enough to hold that speaker down.

i guess i could show mine as well as another option that protects the sub, I still have to add the speaker cloth that will be flush with the bottom of the floor, just havent decided if i want to go black or match the carpet:
