I updated the nav in my 08 with the Pioneer F90BT and am looking for better door speakers and amp. Doesn't have to be the very best just much better than the bose. A local guy quoted me $900.00 for a- Focal 165 K2P component set! With amp and install he is at about $1,500.00. That seems a little stiff for just the front doors! What would you recommend that is a little less costly?
I just did mine for about $500. Picked up a set of CDT 6.25's for roughly $150 worth of Zaino products, a Kicker 350 Amp for $125, a CDT 8" sub for $75, mounted in the rear left hand compartment. Some aren't a fan of the CDT's, but they work for me. Used a PAC GM-24 harness plus an amp kit for $100.
Being in Wasco if you want to do it yourself I can give you a hand. If not teddyca(Check the Norcal Section) is doing installs and I am sure he can beat the price you were quoted. I can also PM him and point him to this thread.
It took me a Saturday to do my C6, including making the mounts for the speakers.
I'd look around for the Focal's I am sure you can beat that price.
Teddy is a good guy and would take great care of you
You can deff do nice components and an amp for under 500. Not top of the line but way better then factory. Did you have a set budget in mind. Did you want to add a sub or run rear speakers etc etc
Thanks guys, I just wanted the front speakers for now. Can you give me any info on other speakers you would recommend? Are Focals top of the line? If so then maybe something just a little less expensive. I thought $500.00 would give me much better sound than what I have now so that is the price range i'm looking for. After the new Pioneer head unit I can hear the short comings of the bose speakers! My local guy quoted me $3,300.00 for Focals front and rear, amp, custom sub enclosure with Memphis sub, install and cables. It's just over kill for a weekend driver. I want clean, quality sound but don't need to thump. Thanks...
Focals are nice but do you need them no. Especially in these cars where the majority of the time im sure you got the windows open etc. Ive installed Polk Momo components in a few C6s and everyone loved them and they arent stupid expensive. If this were my car I would go with the MMC6500 components http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...O+MMC6500.html
obvioully there are tons of options that gives u an idea of what i would reocmmend. Everyone will have there own opinions. I also strongly recommend doing some sort of sound deadner in the doors

Word. It's easy to get a system sounding awesome with the car parked. But even with the extensive deadening I've done, expensive speakers are a bit of a waste over 55mph or so.
