For DLS iridium 6.3 and JL 10 w6v2? All going in a 67 camaro. What would be the best route to go for SQ? 1 amp running it all or 1 for front stage and another for the sub? I don't need huge drowning bass. I want everything to work well and sound smooth and clean. I listen to everything from country to rock to techno.. I mean everything!

I've been happy with my Alpine PDX 150.4. Super small and fit under my passenger seat.

So you are using it just for the front? Do you have a sub? Of i can i'd like to run 1 amp for everything to keep it simple. Any suggestions?

I have the PDX 4.100, and am also very happy with it. Very small and sounds great, at least in my application. Only driving 4 speakers with it, no subs.

If you get one amp for everything, you'll need a sub with the same RMS wattage as your speakers, which is doable, but most of the time the sub needs/wants more power. I'm not sure about the PDX series, but they do make 5-channel amps.

I don't mean to start anything but, while they may sound pretty good, thos pdx's aren't the best options in terms of sound quality. You're giving up sq for convenience (small package/footprint).

if you're more serious about sq go with min 100 wrms to each of the front chans and ~500 wrms to the subs. I'd suggest going with two amps. Depending on how much you have allocated for your amps, i'd look at zapco and butler audio.
zapco
components:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5451
sub:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5452

butler:
x2 (one for the components, one for the sub)
http://www.butleraudio.com/tdb2150.php

or..
for the components (bridged)
http://www.butleraudio.com/tdb475.php

now, you'll notice that i've suggested a 4 chan amp for your components. this will give you the added benefit of going active in the future is you want to toy with improving the sound with raw drivers and ultimately getting better sound for less $$$ (speaker wise)

now there are less expensive alternatives... but since you didn't give us a budget, i'm going with what i'd do.

edit: i just realized that you had the 6.3's this complicates things a bit more... but the 4 chan butler will still give you more headroom... which will increase the overall sq.

Why are the 6.3's complicated?

Would this dls amp work... The Ultimate a5? It is rated at 100 rms x2 @ 2 ohm and 500 x 1 @ 2 ohm. What exactly does that mean? Running at 2 rather than 4 ohm? What does this effect?

Well PDX does sound really clean. I doubt 95%+ of the people would hear the "pdx difference."

I like the Arc KAR KS300.4 over the PDX myself, for SIMILAR size.

6.3's are more complicated because they are a 3 way design compared to the 2 way that i was proposing.

i've suggested the amps above because i've had experience with them or something similar (as is the case for the butlers, they don't sell the models i have anymore) Kale likes the Arc amps and has experience with them and is a reputable member on the forum... there are a lot of amps to choose from, don't feel limited to go with dls since they make your speakers.

running at 2 ohms affects the sound quality, but you can't just switch the amp from 2 to 4 ohms. it's all based on your speakers. your speakers are 4 ohms. so you'll be getting 85 wrms with that amp

I have a JL 450/4v2 and 300/2v2 powering my system. They arent as small as some others but they offer rock solid performance. Check out The JL website to see their amps features. JL wont disapoint.
