I would like to get a power distribution block with one 18 AWG input and 3-4 18 AWG outputs each with a fused link to each wire. Do they make them this small? Thanks.
Re: Need a power distribution block for 18 AWG wire! (C5Noir)
You should be able to get that at any local Audio store or radio shack.
REMEMBER- Your input wire needs to be able to handle the draw of all 4 wires that you split it into. If 18 awg is only enough to handle the current of each accessory, then your input wire must be big enough to handle 4 lines all drawing that current. in other words, if each line draws 5 amps and you have 4 lines, then the input wire into your junction box must be able to handle 20 amps. The input power wire should be hooked to the battery and must be fused within 1 foot of the battery. WITHIN ONE FOOT!!!!!!!! without fusing it within 1 foot, you run the risk of shorting the wire and burning your car to the ground. Even though the junction block has fuses in it, it still must be fused within 1 foot. (have I said 1 foot enough yet???? )
