Default pulling an alpine out of a c5

How hard is it to do? I have had the 7969 now for about 1 year and the damn cd wont play any more so I have to send it in to have it fixed. Dont want to pay for a dealer to pull it but I have limited experence with this stuff. Should I be able to pop the trim ring and pull it out the front, if so how does the trim ring come off. Any help would be appreciated.

You can do it two ways. First is if you have the radio lock keys, just remove the radio trim panel, then carefully insert keys and slide radio out. However, If your sending the radio in 7 times out of 10 the compay likes to see the wire harness with the radio. To do that use a #15torx bit and remove three screws, 1 behind the interior temp switch cover panel next to the key switch. 2 in the ash tray location, one is behind the ashtray, the other is next to the cigarette lighter. Then prop off the air bag/active handling panel to gain access to the 2 *10 mm nuts, remove these. Then in the back of the console, pry off the 2 covers to gain access to the second set of 2 *10mm nuts. remove the nuts slide the arm rest partition, of the console back, and then carefully work the dash side of the console away from the dash (after removing shifter ****). Then just unscrew the stereo mounting kit and viola your done for the time being tell your radio is returned.
