does anyone make a box or system that will fit in the rear of my 76 and still let me store my t'tops back there? i want it thump but need my space as well
help me please
A built a box for my 76, it was 2 10's in a sealed box with a false wall in the back to hide the amps and a pair of 6x9's. I can tell you it cranked and it was stealth and more importantly you could still put the tops in there. I live in Houston and I do build systems on the side, I might even have a pic of the 76 around here. If you want to talk it about it email me.
I mounted one 6x9 behind each wheel well on 3/4" carpeted MDF that I carefully cut to fit the areas. I mounted a Kicker ZR120 amp on the rear wall of my jack storage container, removing the jack. The ZR120 powers a Kicker S10L7 (Square solobaric) that I built a custom enclosure for. I haven't mounted the sub enclosure yet, but I plan to mount it so it fires down in the rear compartment. I will still have access to all of the storage compartments (minus the space for the amp) and more importantly, the tops should slide right under the sub enclosure.
I'm not going to be winning any SQL competitions or anything, but it sounds good to me and is *WAY* louder than I need. Right now with the sub sitting in the back firing up, I can easily move the back deck 1/8", probably even more if I really cranked it (which I never have).
So, yes, it can be done. I'm by no means experienced, in fact, this is the first setup I've really ever built. It just takes time and patience. If you want to see my setup, let me know, I'll take a couple pictures with my digital for you to see.
